La persistencia de la violencia en el ámbito sociopolítico de Nigeria ha exigido intervenciones críticas por parte del Gobierno y otras partes interesadas, con el objetivo de encontrar soluciones en los frentes ideológico y combativo. Los cineastas de Nollywood han intervenido de manera constante en los discursos nacionales con el objetivo de promover la paz y la cohesión nacional a través de los temas y asuntos de sus películas. Nation Under Siege (2013), de Pascal Amanfo, es una de las películas de Nollywood que ha intervenido en el discurso ideológico con el objetivo de promover la paz sostenible en Nigeria. Basándose en los principios del psicoanálisis, el artículo critica el enfoque de la película en los insurgentes de Boko Haram. Mediante un análisis de contenido, el artículo concluye que la película destaca las estrategias operativas de los insurgentes y la ineficacia del Gobierno en la lucha contra ellos. Sin embargo, la película defiende la visión de que la guerra ideológica también debe librarse en la lucha contra los insurgentes, como se subraya en la caracterización y el papel de Lina, una prostituta de la película.
