The author analyses Sean Baker’s film Anora (2024) by Sean Baker using the methodology of Lacanian psychoanalysis; in particular, he considers the image of the main character as an example of ordinary psychosis and highlights the characteristic features of this mental structure, such as: an operative life, a lack of symbolic identity in the rejection of her name, and alienation from the body in the mechanistic use of sexual practices. Furthermore, the author analyses the common myth of Cinderella, which, in his view, expresses the capitalist discourse described by Lacan and provides Anora with a means of becoming the subject of her own desire.
