From the photographic intention to the image, mirror of the sciences

The image is a mirror of the sciences that seek to understand man, his behaviour, characters and thoughts. It facilitates the study of the vocabulary of non-verbal communication or body language. That is why photography, much older than cinema, has revolutionised the natural, human and social sciences as well as the arts. It has played a key role among scientists - anthropologists, criminologists, psychologists and even doctors - in search of a more direct approach to the complexity of the representation of the Other. The photographer, the filmmaker and the anthropologist have in common the fact that they observe and appropriate through image the human being. They are sensors of moments and stories. This looking at others presupposes objectivity and distance but also a questioning of oneself.
