"Nation Under Siege" (2013), de Pascal Amanfo, como um discurso ideológico na gestão da insurgência do Boko Haram na Nigéria

A persistência da violência no espaço sociopolítico da Nigéria exigiu intervenções críticas do governo e de outras partes interessadas, com o objetivo de encontrar soluções nas frentes ideológica e combativa. Os cineastas de Nollywood têm intervindo consistentemente nos discursos nacionais com o objetivo de promover a paz e a coesão nacional através dos assuntos e temas dos seus filmes. Nation Under Siege (2013), de Pascal Amanfo, é um dos filmes de Nollywood que interveio no discurso ideológico com o objetivo de promover a paz sustentável na Nigéria. Com base nos princípios da psicanálise, o artigo critica o foco do filme nos insurgentes do Boko Haram. Com uma análise de conteúdo, o artigo concluiu que o filme destaca as estratégias operacionais dos insurgentes e a ineficácia do governo na luta contra eles. No entanto, o filme defende a visão de que a guerra ideológica também deve ser travada na luta contra os insurgentes, conforme sublinhado na caracterização e no papel de Lina, uma prostituta no filme. Com a atualidade e a relevância do filme para o discurso ideológico, Nollywood amadureceu, considerando a qualidade da sua história e a ousadia de assumir riscos face à censura estatal.
